Meet the Norse gods at the National Museum of Denmark

Let the Völva guide you on an enchanting journey through the world of the gods from October 13th to 20th. Visit Odin’s mighty hall, Valhalla, and test your skills in the gods’ strength challenges, where you can try to lift Thor’s hammer or pull the Midgard Serpent aboard. Or travel to Utgard, visit the giants, and build your own mythical creature out of clay to take home. You can also learn to play the ancient board game Hnefatafl and compete in the tournament to become the game’s king or queen. The Völva’s magical powers have also awakened the eternal trickster god, Loki. Come and hear him tell the story of Ragnarok.

Carve a pumpkin lantern at BLOX

For four days during the school fall break, BLOX offers fun activities for families on Bryghuspladsen from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM (closing at 4:00 PM). The large tent ensures that the weather won’t spoil the fun!

You can draw, make chestnut animals, get your face painted – and of course, carve pumpkins. The price is 50 DKK per child (ages 5 and up), with no upper age limit. Each child gets a pumpkin, tools, markers, an electric candle, and a snack while working.

If you get hungry or thirsty, BLOX EATS is ready to serve you, and there’s parking available in the BLOX underground garage.

Apprentice as a witch in the ruins beneath Christiansborg

Join a dramatized experience for children in the exhibition “Might & Magic” in the dark ruins during the autumn break. The guide will take you on a journey through history, where you’ll learn more about the magical universe of the past.

Along the way, you’ll meet one of the persecuted witches from the 1600s and none other than King Christian IV himself. You’ll also have the chance to try your hand at magic and magical objects. Who in the family is the best magician?

Embark on a journey in Thorvaldsens Museum’s new special exhibition

Both external and internal journeys enrich the soul, challenge the mind, and create lifelong memories. In the exhibition On a Journey, we explore both the physical and inner travels of life. Through Thorvaldsen’s many adventures and travels, the exhibition offers insight into the practicalities, obligations, pleasures, and dangers of traveling.

Opening on October 9, 2024, this exhibition provides a deep dive into the life and journeys of one of Denmark’s most influential artists.

Spooky fun awaits for Halloween in Tivoli

Get ready for fun, thrills, and delicious treats at Halloween in Tivoli! Step into a glowing Halloween universe from October 10 to November 3, where Tivoli transforms into a spooky adventure filled with pumpkins, eerie decorations, and tasty experiences for the whole family.

Follow the scent of sweet Halloween treats at the stalls near Plænen or enjoy a classic dinner at one of Tivoli’s many restaurants. When it’s time for some spooky fun, witches will be brewing elixirs and leading games in the maze. For the brave, explore The Haunted’s dark tunnels or venture into the abandoned mansion, Villa Vendetta.

In the evening, experience a sensory explosion of music, lights, water, smoke, and fire at Tivoli Lake. Will we see you for 25 days of spooky fun at Halloween in Tivoli?

Become recruit for a day at the Danish War Museum

This fall break, the Danish War Museum turns into a training ground for new recruits – offering fun, active experiences for the whole family.

Ever wondered what it’s like to carry a 30 kg backpack like Danish soldiers in Afghanistan? Or how challenging it is to read a military map and find the right checkpoints? Families can try this and much more at the War Museum. Test your skills on the shooting range with NERF guns, try on soldier uniforms from different eras, or throw parachute soldiers and aim for the landing zone.

Expert guides will also tell stories about real weapons from history, which you can safely hold and examine up close.

Activities run every weekday during the fall break, from October 14-18, between 10:00 and 15:00, with the last session starting at 14:15.

The skeletons tell their story at Museum of Copenhagen

This fall break, delve into the world of bones and skulls at Copenhagen Museum. Every weekday from October 14-18, between 1:00 and 14:00, guided tours (in Danish) focus on skeletons from the city’s past. Hear the tale of the warrior with a broken arm and those who perished during the plague in 1711 and the cholera outbreak in 1853. Discover how these individuals lived in Copenhagen, what caused their deaths, and how the city was transformed to promote longer, healthier lives.

The tour is suitable for adults and children aged 8 and up, and lasts about an hour.

Price: 50 DKK per person + museum entry (100 DKK for adults over 18).
Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the museum’s ticket counter.

Every day at 13:00 during fall break, Nikolaj Kunsthal offers a guided tour up the old church tower, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city. From the 35-meter-high viewpoint, you’ll be treated to a stunning vista of Copenhagen.

Tickets cost 50 DKK, and your tower tour ticket also gives you a 10% discount on snacks, cakes, and drinks at Nikolaj Kunsthal’s café.

But now, the unthinkable has happened—they’ve escaped into the exhibition! Pick up a treasure map in our shop and explore the museum to help us find them hidden throughout the displays. Once you’ve found them all, you’ll be tasked with locating the legendary Ark of the Covenant, which is cleverly hidden somewhere in the museum.

Design your own bookmark at The Black Diamond – The Royal Library

Join us at the Royal Library’s new children’s area, Børnenes Bibliotek, located in the historic Galejsal in the old library building. Here, you can create your very own bookmark using beautiful scraps of paper and materials sourced from the library’s bookbinders.

Additionally, you can explore the collection of special children’s books, discover the whimsical archive cabinets, enjoy games, or embark on adventures around the library on the Diamond Hunt or the Treasure Expedition.
